Sorghum Takes Root in Karamoja as a New Agricultural Future Begins

For the first time, sorghum has been planted and harvested in Karamoja, marking an important milestone for agriculture and food security in the region. The successful harvest demonstrates the potential of introducing new crops suited to local farming conditions. Through the support of YeshuaLife and the Robert Kayanja Bucket Initiative, the project is giving communities an opportunity to explore sorghum production as a source of food and livelihoods. Farmers are also being introduced to modern agricultural practices and technology. The harvest is being carried out using combine harvesters, making the process faster and more efficient. This first sorghum harvest represents a practical step toward expanding agricultural opportunities, strengthening food production, and building greater resilience among communities in Karamoja. This achievement is an invitation to partners, organizations, farmers, investors, and well-wishers to join us in expanding this work across Karamoja. We welcome investment and partnerships to help scale sorghum production, strengthen food security, and create sustainable agricultural opportunities for more communities. Together, we can turn this first harvest into the beginning of a lasting agricultural transformation in Karamoja.
